ISO 14001:2026
Introduction to ISO 14001:2026
Understand environmental management systems, the 2026 revision and what certification involves
Introduction · 4 hours · Certificate does not expire
ISO 14001:2026 is the international standard for environmental management systems, published on 15 April 2026 to replace the 2015 edition. This course explains what the standard asks of an organization, why it asks for it, and how an environmental management system works in a real operation.
You start with the shared foundations of management systems, then walk through ISO 14001 clause by clause: context and climate change, leadership and policy, environmental aspects and impacts, compliance obligations, objectives, competence, communication, operational control across the lifecycle, emergency preparedness, monitoring, compliance evaluation, internal audit, management review and improvement.
A worked example at a metal finishing plant with wastewater discharge permits runs through the course, so each requirement is tied to a concrete decision rather than an abstract rule. You also learn what changed in 2026, how the transition from ISO 14001:2015 runs to its 30 April 2029 deadline, and how third-party certification works.
The course is written for people who need to understand the standard, not audit it. If you go on to the Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor course, this material is the foundation they build on.
